Maybe now, some of Obama's,I mean God, Imean, Obama's agenda will start to happen! Let's see!!! Health Care? ....

Anybody heard what's going on in the Senate race?

Never thought I'd be asking this but what happened to the Senate Race? I just looked back at blog I did in the early days of June and there was no resolution yet,now IT IS JUNE!!! talk about tiresome!! I recall that Coleman was appealing the process ~AGAIN~ in the early days of June, but maybe it is in a dormant stage now, like cancer? I have to hand it to Franken for good humor and tenacity!! I'm not biased at all, am I? It's hard to know what to say after all the rigamrole, It just looks very manipulated to me anyway....

Well, I'm in before midnight today. Not much to report.

Al Franken is still trying to get his fair place in the Senate, don't get me started on this, what ever happened to winning or losing fair and square? This race has gone on way too long, time to throw in the towel Norm! It's past boring now, snore...

I just heard about Bea Arthur passing away, great talent and ballsy lady, she will be missed! I enjoyed Maude and Golden Girls for years! That's it for now, sleep well.

forgive me I am in treatment

Forgive me please fellow bloggers, I really did mean to blog last night, but I fell asleep after dinner and watching In Treatment episodes on HBO.
Has anyone else checked this show out? I have been following for few weeks and already marked out what characters to be sympathetic to or not. I like Walter(John Mahoney) dislike Mia (Hope Davis) feel for the young cancer patient(sorry, I forget the characters name) and curious about Eli (new character? or just filler?)
Gina,Paul's therapist(Dianne Wiest) a little too gooey and new agey for my taste but patient,I'll give her that. As for Paul, (Gabriel Byrne) he seems very down to earth and self possessed, I can respect a guy like that, just as a guy,I'm glad that he is not being sued anymore but sad that his wife won't take him back, that is always a tough thing. So, I think I have a good topic for tonight. stay tuned

glass slipper

Well, I think I lose the glass slipper tonight,getting in after midnight and all. I am writing this @12:57am Central time, are time zones a consideration? Is there a makeup option?

Tonight I watched "Rachel getting Married" and I am going to let it soak in,I may have a more plausible review tommorow,or later this morning. But, right off the cuff I have to warn you that there is some very cliche family disfunction/recovery rhetoric,however, there is also very good performances from Anne Hathaway,Bill Irwin,Debra Winger. I would say 3.5 stars,effective and engaging but not quite overwhelming in the way I expected.

Jonathan Demme is skilled in the subtle touch, good storytelling. I think I'll sleep on it and give it another watch in order to get more detailed.

May Marathon

This post marks the beginning of my May blog marathon. Thanks to encourgement and motivation from WordCount, I will be blogging something everyday in May and hopefully loosen some writing chops. So, for all of you co-marathoners out there, let it be known, I am in this, no excuses and no fudging. and I hope that you are too.
My blog mostly covers the "day job" syndrome as it affect "true artists". IOW How does having a dayjob affect your art making discipline,what do you do to compensate not doing art full time, because, lets face 90 to 95.5% of us have a day job, and that includes:

actors,dancers,writers,filmmakers, circus acrobats,etc.

Q: How do you deal with sickening guilt when you opt to go home and flop on the couch, drink or chain smoke or maybe indulge some more illicit vices?!
I have come up with an idea: I am going to use a random phrase or word that I hear or see in print or from a conversation, during the day to cue/prompt my writing for that day , for example "Last Monday" go from there...what do you think?

You'll know what the trigger phrase is for that day because I will include it in the title, and either start with it or throw it into a sentence somewhere.

The main subject I would like to initiate for this blog is stated in the title: Art and Sublimation.
Sublimation is defined most commonly as a psychological term and means to divert energy from it's immediate goal towards a more refined expression,ie: a sexual or biological urge to one more socially,morally, or aesthetically acceptable.
As an artist, I find myself sublimating ideas and images quite often when I cannot directly execute them. It is a well known fact/statistic that 90% of living artists in this country must supplement thier artwork by working at a "dayjob" so sublimation is a necessary practice for many of us.
I personally have had alot of frustration and despair with this practice but it has also become an important part of my artistic process, of editing and testing the strength of ideas. That is why I chose it as a subject for my blogs, I want to investigate the idea deeper,read up on the subject, and/or get feedback from other artists,etc.
